"You will shortly be arriving at Costa Navarino..." are the words that greet the guest upon arrival at costanavarino.com. This sets the tone for the entire site, with beautifully crafted segues between pages, tempting images and sumptuous sounds reflecting the true image and offerings of this high end, luxurious resort.
Further enhancing the user experience, the site aims to be an online resource, providing information for the whole region of Messinia, its flora, fauna, mythology, food, traditions and an up-to-date calendar of all important customs and celebrations taking place within the area's villages.
The website comes in three forms: a highly interactive Flash site; an AA accessible HTML site and a mobile version, striking the right balance between ease of access across platforms and richness of experience.
Less Rain used AS3 animations to link interface elements and pages seamlessly into a website that creates a sense of place. There are 25 different sound-scapes accompanying each background image, sequenced using a small number of samples, saving a great deal of download time.
Less Rain conceptualised and executed the Costa Navarino Forest initiative, which encourages users to participate online and plant a real tree in Taygetos Mountain, Greece.
Site visitors can view the trees planted in the form of an isometric forest you can navigate through. Trees need love to grow, and that includes answering questions about the area and inviting your friends to support you. The owners of the tallest 500 trees will enter a ballot to won a series of trips to the resort.
Less Rain has been responsible for the tone of voice of the Costa Navarino brand as well as its visual presentation.
In collaboration with our friends at Praline, Less Rain designed the Costa Navarino identity and brand panorama, provided the guidelines for all sub-brands and products, created a family of custom fonts, signage guidelines and mosaic design for the Anazoe Spa.
The project lasted over two years and involved extensive research into the identity of the surrounding area, identifying concepts and symbols from the ancient times and fusing them into a modern, timeless identity.
